The Ups and Downs of Buying a House

As I've decided to stay in Italy the time has come for me to sell my apartment in the UK so we can buy somewhere decent to live in Trani.  Our search has been exhausting.  We've seen many apartments, some of which have been flea pits, others have been quite respectable, but nothing so far has stood out.  We've seen a ghastly place that had a pull up garage as a front door!  Imagine having everyone know when you were at home, horrible!  We've seen a place that had tiles similar to what you might find in a hospital and a smell to match, and we've seen an apartment that was so claustrophobic it made me feel as though we were in a cave.  On the plus side though we've seen a place that was beautifully decorated, had a lovely view of the sea, a spa bath, almost too perfect we thought.  We were right to have doubts having later discovered it was in an apartment block that has a great deal of problems with neighbours registering complaints at the Town Hall quite frequently.

Our search therefore continues and we can only hope that in the not too distant future we will find somewhere that's the right price and in the right location.  It just goes to prove that wherever you live in the world, the problems you find when looking for property are just the same!
