A bike ride

When Felice suggested we go for a bike ride, I had no hesitation in saying yes.  Imagine, I thought, nice quiet country lanes on a beautiful summers day.  But I was in for a surprise.  Instead of quiet country lanes, we cycled through the busy main streets of Trani !   I would have been quite happy turning right at every junction to save having to go straight at crossroads, or turn left and risk my life.  But in those circumstances we would have ended up going round and round without getting anywhere!

Felice then began careering off onto the other side of the road and I found myself shouting, in English, "This is Italy you know, not England!" followed by "You're mad!"

But thankfully we arrived at our destination successfully.  Despite the fear that came with it, I think cycling around the town is relatively simple compared to being behind the wheel of a car!
